Does this look like fireworks?

I think this is the closest my art might get to fireworks.

Happy 4th of July!

This is one of the 17 new pieces that I made recently for the show at Hotel Biron. Though the base for this one was made last year, I think.

I’m calling it Creature Features. If you look at it long enough, you’ll find many little critters hidden within. There’s a name for this phenomenon, pareidolia. It’s the tendency to perceive faces (or other meaningful patterns) in random objects, like seeing a face in an electrical outlet, a car’s front grille, or clouds.

This one makes me feel happy and hopeful. Like a burst of positive energy. If this were hanging in my house, I’m pretty sure it would make me smile every time I walked by.

I almost called it Cotton Candy Dreams, but I thought that would be too cheesy.
