That Time I Airbrushed a Car!
During my Senior year of high school, there was a competition from a car dealership to paint a car with fun graphics.
Multiple high schools around the area participated, and I think the students won $1,000 for first prize or something like that.
I led a small team of two other artists, and we airbrushed a car with an American theme. There was an eagle and a horse, and I think a flag on the back.
We used airbrushes while most of the other students were using paint brushes. It made a really big difference in the outcome. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don’t have any photos of the other cars, but here’s ours.
We won first place!

The owner of the car dealership commissioned me to paint a car on his garage. He wanted it to look like the car was sitting there when the door was closed. It was a fun project, though I think I never finished that last 5% of it. Doh!
I’m pretty sure we also made it into the Cleveland Plain Dealer, which was a big deal back then. My mom probably still has the newspaper clipping 🙂
Have you ever made it into the newspaper?
