The Fox and The Tree

While we were in Steamboat, CO, I actually saw this scene. I was driving, Steve (husband) was in the passenger seat, and Caio (friend) was in the back seat.

It was pretty dark out, but I noticed some ears next to a tree on the right side. There was no one on the road, so I stopped and backed up, curious about what kind of animal it was.

There she was, sitting next to the tree in this perfect tableau. A little fox just taking in the evening in someone's front yard next to their lit-up tree.

Such a magic moment! I had to recreate it because I couldn't get a picture. This is black watercolor paper with pastel pencils, 9 x 12 inches.
