Kirameki x Seven

Last year, I had a booth at the Union Street Festival. It was a great experience for me, I sold several original octopus paintings, AND I received several commissions on top of that! I also met some great people, hello to those people!

Just before the show I painted Kirameki, the shiny blue octopus, and it was on display for the very first time. Our friend Chris was in town and hadn’t seen Kirameki yet, but I knew, I just KNEW, that he would absolutely love the painting the moment he laid eyes on it.

I was right!

Chris came to the festival and fell in love with it immediately. He purchased it but wanted to leave it with me so he could keep looking around.

I kept Kirameki on display, and several people wanted to buy it. Instead, I offered to paint other versions of it. I ended up with three commissions! One was yellow instead of blue, and one was bigger than the original. That led to me painting several additional copies of Kirameki as well. All of the paintings turned out a little bit different from each other, and each one was really, really cool in its own way.

Below are all of the shiny Kirameki versions, which you can click on to enlarge. And here is a video so you can see how Kirameki sparkles and shines.

When you’re out in the world and see a piece of art you really love, but someone else owns it, don’t hesitate to ask the artist if they can create another version just for you. I guarantee they’d be absolutely delighted to do a commission!

Which version of Kirameki do you like the best?
